Who is your favorite famous corgi?

Happy Wednesday from London, lovely reader!

It's another beautifully sunny day here, and after I finish up client work for the day, I'm going to carry on editing my new video series about the famous and the not-so-famous (but very important corgis) in pop culture.

The first corgi in the series was Rufus, one of Amazon's first 20 employees (and certainly the cutest and shortest!). I absolutely love the story of Amazon's 'Official Switch Thrower' so if you don't already know about Rufus, go watch the video after you've finished reading this.

Next on my list is Ein, the Pembroke corgi and data dog from beloved anime, Cowboy Bepop.

If you have a corgi from pop culture that I should include in the series, will you hit reply and let me know? I'd love your suggestions!

Snoot boops and bunny hops,

Winston & Bella x

P.S. Still no news from the vet on Winston's recent CT scan (story here). I called up this morning and got shirty (as shirty as a polite British person can be πŸ˜†) about how long we've been waiting for these results. I know independent vets are stressed and underpaid (at least here in the UK), but the waiting time for these results has been ridiculous. I really hope they come back with nothing serious.

Spring warning: be careful of slug pellets 🐌

I have the wonderful Welsh Corgi Rescue Service newsletter to thank for this warning. We used the WCRS to help us adopt Winston and a couple of times a year we receive a lovely printed newsletter from Lynne Creech, the secretary.

In this edition, she warns about the use of slug pellets. A reader's corgi suddenly had two fits during the night and was rushed to the vet, where she made a full recovery and is on epilepsy tablets. It's been considered that slug pellets are the reason for this, so just make sure that if you're using them in your garden, they're safe for pets.

A non-exclusive glossary of Corgi terms πŸ“–

  1. Sploot - the corgi's distinctive sleep style: their bodies completely straight with the paws splayed out.
  2. Derp or Blep - A corgi derp or blep usually involves a ridiculous expression and a tongue hanging out. The image on the left is an example of this!
  3. Thumpers or Stumps or Drumsticks - those delicious corgi legs.
  4. Nubbin - when a corgi with a docked tail or bobtail gets excited, they will shake their nubbin with much vigor.
  5. FRAP - Frequent Random Acts of Play! Sometimes your corgi will just explode with activity (also known as Zoomies). It's your job to simply sit back + enjoy!

What terms have I missed?

PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT:

A reader recommends...

Today is a dog leash recommendation from reader, Kat. She says, "Oats is able to escape the leashes with the β€˜normal’ clasp, and this one is thick enough to endure rough terrain, occasional biting incidents and strong enough to pull him back if we come across wildlife. The rope is harder than the ones you can buy at a pet store here, that’s probably why it’s so durable."

If you've got strong hands and a stronger corgi, this sounds like a brilliant option! Thank you, Kat.

RESCUE DOGS AVAILABLE:

This week...

Ok, so it's not a rescue corgi this week, but I wanted to make an exception for this beautiful girl who still hasn't found her forever home. Oats (our second this newsletter!) is a 3.5 yo Goldendoodle who was rescued from a heartbreaking situation in South Korea. Despite her difficult start in life, she's a gentle, loyal and playful dog who is looking for a home in the US, and can fly into many major airports! Find out more about Oats here, and apply to adopt here via Big 3's website.

In case you missed it...

🦴 The homemade dog food recipe I use for Winston

I wanted to share this again because no matter how often I do, someone always says they've missed it... and I don't want that! So, here's the homemade dog food recipe I use for Winston, created after hours of research and trialling-and-testing different recipes I found from dog food companies and nutritionists. Note: I add nutritional powder* to every breakfast, as well as a handful of frozen blueberries a few times a week.

*If you're based in the US, there's a nutritional powder below that I recommend in "Winston's discounts"
