I took my corgi to a hot sauce festival

This past week's been a fun one for Winston. He got to spend time with my parents dogs (a Pug and an Irish Terrier, they're quite the duo!), he was given the world's biggest carrot (seriously, I wish I'd taken a photo but it vanished before I had the chance) by our lovely cleaning lady, Jola, AND he accompanied my husband and I to a hot sauce festival last Saturday, which meant he got to hoover up crisps and breadcrumbs off the floor that were dropped by a steady stream of hot sauce-taste...

Wonderful news from the vet!

I'm so happy to share the wonderful news that Winston's CT scan came back completely clear! 7 years old and no luxating patella (what the vet thought it might be), no signs of arthritis, no bulging discs, no nothing! After a protracted and painful wait for the results (I wrote about that here), my husband and I are so happy he has a completely clean bill of health. The vet thinks it must've been a bad muscle sprain, which fortunately healed all by itself. Thank you so much again for all your...

Who is your favorite famous corgi?

Happy Wednesday from London, lovely reader! It's another beautifully sunny day here, and after I finish up client work for the day, I'm going to carry on editing my new video series about the famous and the not-so-famous (but very important corgis) in pop culture. The first corgi in the series was Rufus, one of Amazon's first 20 employees (and certainly the cutest and shortest!). I absolutely love the story of Amazon's 'Official Switch Thrower' so if you don't already know about Rufus, go...

🤖 That "dog expert" is not real

I can't thank you enough for the lovely messages of support I received from so many of you about our scary incident with Winston a couple of weeks ago <3 In case you missed it, I wrote about that here. I don't have an update just yet (we're booked in to have his scan tomorrow morning), but as soon as I know more I'll share it with you. In the meantime, at the start of the year I was interviewed by the lovely Candie, Catherine, and Chuckles (the Corgi) from Corgi Town USA. If you have a spare...

👀 Watch out for dubious dog supplements

Last Monday we had a scary incident with Winston. I went to take him out for his night wee and when I picked him up to place him in his harness, he cried out in pain. He couldn't stand up for more than a few seconds — and suddenly I started panicking. Had something happened to his spine? It was 9.30pm when my husband and I drove him to the emergency vet, 10 minutes away. We sat in the waiting room until, finally, we were seen at 11pm. The vet did lots of reflex tests, checked Winston's legs...

💰How much we spend on our corgi

I often talk about owning a Corgi on a budget. Today, I thought I’d break down how much we spend each year on Winston. £250 paid for Winston (we rescued him) £40 per month insurance £20 every two months for nutritional powder £40 per month on food £100 teeth clean / year £60 groom / twice per year £300 for flea and worming / year £50-£100 on toys or harness / year £300+ on dog sitters while we travel / year £60 on poo bags / year That takes our annual total to roughly £2,050+ per year. Does...

We love his new dog car bed 😍

My sister loves babysitting Winston. There are a few reasons for this (she loves the way he follows her around the apartment, she loves the way he curls up beside her in bed), but one of the biggest is that he's so easy to take out on a walk. For context, my sister and I grew up with Irish Terriers. Irish Terriers, or "Red Devils" as they're known, can be notoriously headstrong and (at least in my experience) have a tendency to completely ignore their owner when faced with something enticing...

😮 Those naughty royal corgis

Last week, on my way back from meeting a friend for coffee, Winston and I rode the top floor of the bus from Notting Hill home to Clapham, where we live. I was listening to my podcast, minding my own business, when I noticed a gentleman out the corner of my eye. He was dressed beautifully in a suit, tie and crevette, with silver hair and an umbrella in hand. As we pulled into the next bus stop, he got up to leave -- but not without first crouching down to stroke Winston. I removed an earphone...

The corgi who never forgets

When my husband proposed to me on a weekend away in 2021, Winston went to stay with our good friend, Evie. She was living in a flatshare at the time with a few other people and as you can imagine, Winston had the best time being showered with attention, kisses, and endless treats (because who can deny that face?). A few days ago, I had to go and pick up a parcel from a newsagent on that same street. Evie no longer lives there, but can you guess who still believes that she does? 😆 When we got...

My antisocial corgi met the office horse 🐾

Once or twice a month, my husband takes Winston with him into the office. Fortunately, it’s a very dog friendly office. Which, as you can imagine for slightly (read: very) anti-social Winston, is not ideal 😆 There’s one dog in particular who absolutely terrifies him. And to be honest, I don’t blame Winston. This beauty – Macca – looks more like a small horse than a dog. Isn’t he beautiful? Snoot boops and bunny hops, Winston & Bella x 🧘🏼 Stress levels matter to them as much as us In case you...
