The corgi who never forgets

When my husband proposed to me on a weekend away in 2021, Winston went to stay with our good friend, Evie.

She was living in a flatshare at the time with a few other people and as you can imagine, Winston had the best time being showered with attention, kisses, and endless treats (because who can deny that face?).

A few days ago, I had to go and pick up a parcel from a newsagent on that same street. Evie no longer lives there, but can you guess who still believes that she does? 😆

When we got to Evie’s old place, Winston parked his bottom down and it took a lot of cajoling to get him to keep walking!

You see that little smiley octopus nestled behind the stink eye? That's one of Winston's beloved toys, gifted to him by Evie. It's actually a reversible octopus and is used by Evie at the hospital where she works. She gives it to children so they can tell her how they feel without having to say anything ❤️

Snoot boops and bunny hops,

Does a dry nose mean they're sick? 🤒

Dog Myths, Debunked

Though this can sometimes be a symptom of illness (alongside others), a dog’s nose moisture can change all the time and for perfectly normal reasons.

They can sometimes wake up with a dry nose after a long night's sleep. It can also happen from lying in the sun or being near an air vent. As long as your dog is acting like themselves and has their usual energy, an occasional dry nose on its own usually isn't a cause for concern.

Ava Gardner and her naughty Corgi, Cara 🦊

I had so much fun creating a video recently about Hollywood actress, Ava Gardner, and her love for Corgis. "Her babies" as she called them.

Frank Sinatra gave Ava her first corgi, Rags, as a birthday present on Christmas Eve 1953 and after that, she was never without a Corgi.

In the late 60s, Ava Gardner moved to London and bought her Corgi, Cara, with her. When Ava was away filming on location, she would call the flat night and day just to hear Cara bark 🥹. Isn't that the sweetest story you've ever heard?!

Make Yak Chews at home 🐮

I don't know about you, but Yak Chews are a firm favorite in our household. We don't give them to Winston too often (maybe 4-5x per year), but when we do, he goes crazy.

If you fancy making them at home, all you need are 3 simple ingredients:

  • Skimmed milk
  • White wine vinegar (or lemon juice)
  • Cheesecloth

They're easy to make but they do take time. And make sure you cut nice chunky 'blocks' like in this photo. Here is the full recipe if you fancy trying them at home.

PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT:

We recommend...

Have you ever considered an air purifier? This is perfect for those allergy sufferers out there. It won't replace your vacuum or stop allergies completely, but it is great for catching invisible dander before it lands on your clothes. It’s especially effective at neutralizing that lingering dog smell by trapping the oils and skin cells that carry odors!

RESCUE CORGI AVAILABLE:

Meet Paddy

Meet Paddy, a handsome Corgi boy currently waiting patiently in China for his forever family in the UK or Ireland ❤️ He and his sister, Clover, were part of a breeding facility. When they couldn’t be sold, they were sadly abandoned outside a shelter, where they were at risk of being picked up by meat traders. Thankfully they were rescued — and while Clover has now found her forever home, Paddy is still waiting for his. To apply to adopt him, Big 3 asks that you read the website thoroughly before making your application 🤍

In case you missed it...

🦊 Have you ever seen a Corgimute?!

This is Apollo, the Corgi x Malamute, and look at the size of him! This is the first I’ve seen of the breed, but he seems very sweet, and I’m willing to bet he’s got that classic Corgi sass mixed with a very dramatic Malamute howl...

🧡 How to entertain your dog without leaving the couch

Corgis are a highly intelligent breed that require regular mental stimulation to keep them happy and healthy. After many hours researching and experimenting with different methods to keep Winston’s brain busy, let’s take a look at the puzzle toys and training exercises I use to do so!

Corgi of the day

Or should I say... Corgis? 😅 This is a freshly brushed Virgile, sent by his owner, Hattie. She knew how smart and devious Corgis can be as her grandparents also owned them, but she still didn’t expect Virgile to steal things from her 25kg Labrador!!
